As more people transition into a vegan lifestyle, beauty products are also taking a vegan turn. With more choices than before when it comes to vegan beauty, swapping out your beauty regimen has never been easier. In fact, you can be spoiled with choice! Thinking about making the change? We’ve got you covered.
What’s the definition of vegan beauty?
Vegan beauty products are made without ingredients that are derived from animals.
Is vegan the same as natural and organic beauty?
Not necessarily. A product could contain ingredients that are natural (e.g. beeswax) or organic (made without synthetic fertilisers, using sustainable methods of production) but because it comes from an animal, this means it is not vegan. Some ingredients do come from animals but can be synthetically formulated, meaning it is also vegan. The best thing to do is to take a look at product ingredients or find out from the brands directly.
What’s the difference between vegan and cruelty-free beauty?
Cruelty-free means that any part of the product has not been tested on animals. A product could be cruelty-free but that does not necessarily mean it will be vegan too.
Why vegan beauty?
More people are turning to vegan beauty for a variety of reasons including personal wellbeing and/or ethical concerns. As brands become more attuned to the needs of individuals and the environment, vegan beauty options are growing and proving that they’re as effective as any other type of product out there.
